Refining stones are some of the most valuable resources in the game, and a large piece of your true strength will revolve around the luck you have with refining stones. Before we dive into the guide, let's go over some cardinal rules:

Guide to Using Refining Stones

Refining stones are some of the most valuable resources in the game, and a large piece of your true strength will revolve around the luck you have with refining stones. Before we dive into the guide, let's go over some cardinal rules:

  1. Never heavily refine anything other than Achaemenidae or Ares Gear unless it's for a gatherer
  2. Always be picky on your first and second refine before locking
  3. Prioritize refining gear over refining dragons

Now that we've gotten the cardinal rules out of the way, here's a summary of the topics we'll be going over:

  1. How to Refine
  2. How to Lock Refines
  3. What Refines Are Available
  4. What's a "Good" Refine
  5. Where to Prioritize Refines

How to Refine

Refining is easy, simply follow these steps:

1. Go to general

2. Select equipment and tap "View"

3. Click "Refine"

4. Click "Refine" Again

5. Confirm or Cancel

That's it!

How to Lock Refines

Each equipment can have up to three slots locked per refine. Every additional slot that's locked costs 2k additional gems, so be sure to be picky on your first and second refine as these add up quickly.

What Refines Are Available

Each slot can only refine certain attributes, which are listed below.

  • Helmet: HP, Gathering Speed, Sub Gold/Construction/Training Speed
  • Chest: Defense, Troop Load, Sub Gold/Construction/Training Speed
  • Pants: HP, Gathering Speed, Sub Gold/Construction/Training Speed
  • Boots: Defense, Troop Load, March Speed, March Speed to Monsters, Sub Training Cap
  • Ring: Attack, Troop load, Sub Gold/Construction/Training Speed
  • Weapon: Attack, Gathering Speed, March Speed, March Speed to Monsters, Sub Training Cap
On attacking generals, you will generally want percentage refines and on your wall general you will want a mixture of flat refines and percentage refines.

What's a "Good" Refine

Generally speaking, a good first refine is around 80% or more of the maximum. For example, weapons and rings can refine up to 25% attack in each slot. For the first refine, aiming for 20% or higher is recommended, then for the second you can look at a little lower at around 18% and continue reducing your "pickiness" as the gem costs rise.

Remember that if you finish all four slots with something better in the last two than you had previously, you can unlock different refines and continue working to polish your piece.

Where to Prioritize Refines

  • Mounted Monster General: Mounted Attack% (Spear and Ring)
  • Ranged PVP General: Ranged Attack% (Bow and Ring)
  • Ground PVP General: Ground Defense% (Chest, Boots)
  • Mounted PVP General: Mounted HP% (Helmet, Pants)

Happy refining, and if you roll something good be sure to post a screenshot in the comments section!
